Steve’s Garden Gate

About Us

Through the Garden Gate was started in 1992 by Steve and Lisa Ferranti, making it one of the first gift shops in La Habra. If you remember the early days, you’ll recall our original store across from La Habra High School. Our dedication to detail, impeccable eye for design, and outstanding customer service have shaped the store into what it is today. Whether you’re seeking the perfect home accessories, a thoughtful gift for a friend, or a unique item for your interior design project, we have just what you’re looking for.

Lisa Ferranti

Founder & Owner

Lisa Ferranti founded Through the Garden Gate in 1992 alongside her husband, Steve, with a vision of creating a space that felt as welcoming and inspiring as home itself. Following Steve’s passing, she has continued to lead the store with grace and optimism, honoring his legacy while bringing her own joyful energy and refined eye for design to every corner of the business.
She personally curates much of the store’s inventory, always with an eye for pieces that blend beauty, comfort, and meaning.
You’ll often find Lisa in the shop, chatting with customers, fluffing displays, or helping someone find the perfect gift or finishing touch for their home. Her warm, welcoming approach has built a loyal community over the years—and she looks forward to continuing to grow that connection for many more to come.

Greg Ferranti

Designer

Greg Ferranti, son of founders Steve and Lisa Ferranti, grew up in the world of Through the Garden Gate—from unpacking boxes as a child to designing holiday displays as a teen. His early experiences shaped a deep connection to the store and a lifelong appreciation for thoughtful design.
With a background in visual design, he returned to the business full-time seven years ago and now plays a key role as a designer. Greg brings a refined, approachable aesthetic to both the store’s collections and the interior design services team. He works closely with clients to create personalized spaces through thoughtful décor, custom accessories, and a sharp eye for detail.

Jesus Tumalan

Designer

Jesus has been a valued member of the Through the Garden Gate family for over 20 years. He worked closely with Steve throughout the years — creating eye-catching store displays, setting up the beloved Christmas installations that customers look forward to each year, as well as interior design services.
Jesus plays a vital role on the design team, as customers appreciate his thoughtful guidance when selecting décor and his care in making sure each piece finds its perfect place. His ability to bring beauty and balance to every display reflects both his deep experience and natural design talent. He is able to bring a personal touch and decades of knowledge to every space he helps create.

Jennifer Marshall

Floral Designer

Jennifer has been part of Through the Garden Gate for over 25 years, learning the art of floral design directly from Steve and proudly continuing his legacy. Her handcrafted arrangements — seen throughout the store — bring a timeless, elegant charm that reflects both tradition and creativity.
With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of color, texture, and form, Jennifer creates floral pieces that elevate any space. In addition to the in-store displays, Jennifer also creates custom arrangements, ensuring there is something special for everyone. From classic arrangements to seasonal centerpieces, her work offers something special for everyone—designed to bring lasting beauty to your home.

Continuing Steve’s Legacy

In July 2023, Steve passed away unexpectedly. He was a naturally gifted interior designer, deeply loved by both his family and customers. Steve’s dedication and vision were truly inspiring.

On April 1, 2024, Lisa and her four children started Steve’s Garden Gate to honor and carry forward Steve’s legacy. While the name has changed, our commitment to providing you with the same exceptional quality and care remains unwavering.
